The first thing that I noticed When sitting down with Abby to go over her wedding, was the importance of family and god In her and David’s life. This couple displayed that in their ceremony and reception perfectly. I feel so privileged to have been able to capture their beautiful and privileged wedding at the Double JJ Resort this past Sunday and I am so excited to share these images from their special day, take a look at this absolutely Stunning couple!
A very huge part of my life, when I’m not behind the camera, is Family. This weekend I traveled 32 hours round trip with my Michigan family to visit my Arkansas family, and to welcome Sarah into our family as she took Chads hand in marriage. I learned on this trip
(a) where I get my bad driving from, its hereditary.
(b) never give children sprite for breakfast
(c) If you give a 8yo a blow dryer and tell him its an air gun you’ll never have to blow dry your hair by yourself again.
This weekend I traveled up to Traverse City to shoot a wedding and ended up also shooting with hometown model Britney Simerson.
You can’t tell from the behind the scenes video, but we were literally fighting with tourist traffic to get this beautiful shot on the overpass connecting TC State Park to TC State Beach.
This weekend I found myself traveling to Kalkaska, Michigan capturing the beautiful ceremony and reception of Amanda & Mitchell. With stunning ambient light sweeping throughout the church windows, their ceremony was truly angelic. One of my favorite images from their wedding, is this intimate moment of the bride and groom sitting in the field next to their reception. With the wind softly blowing, I quickly caught a few snaps of the couple out of focus, but truly love the way the image turned out. So many blessing to the newlyweds!
This weekend I headed up north to shoot Kaitlyn & Jeffrey Bohnets wedding in Elk Rapids. I initially first met this adorable couple from the Traverse City Rock Climbing gym, and I was so excited when they chose me to capture their big day. I’d like to send a very big congratulations to the newlyweds, and share a weak peak of images from their special day!
More to come…
While visiting Traverse City, my family all pitched in helping me build a homemade light. My mother was the architect, my brother the mathematician making sure everything was measured correct, and my father the wiring genius. It’s been awhile since we have all come together as a whole to work on one project, so it was a fun bonding experience, and the light we produced, amazing!
It doesn’t look very professional, but the images that it produces, are amazing, I am so exited to begin incorporating this into more of my daily shoots! Below is the light used in it’s first ever shoot with new model Courtney Russ last night and the outcome image!
Family Building: We were all very deep into what we were doing…
I’ve never shot outside with my lighting system before, but desperate times call for desperate measures. This brilliant CMU beauty scored herself a summer internship in the Hampton’s this summer, and I just had to shoot with her before she left.
Finding myself in Mount Pleasant last night I shot Mackenzie a text asking her when her last night in town would be, when she said ‘tonight’ my stomach dropped. I was booked until 10pm, and had nowhere indoors to shoot at after that time. Having shot at the French Auditorium on campus before, I said lets meet there and hopefully the building will still be open. It was not. However, we did find some outdoor outlets outside, and set up camp outside, resulting in some amazing nighttime shots!
Thanks so much for making time for me before you left Mackenzie, especially big thank you for working with me so late at night (our shoot ended at 12:03am) and on such late notice! Hopefully, I’ll be visiting you in the Hamptons this summer for some more amazing shots! 😉
This Saturday I spent in Traverse City shooting “Something Purple” for a Michigan based bridal magazine. We started the morning off at 7am, at impress Salon where our Bridal party had their hair and makeup done by the owner Sandra and her amazing team. Then headed out to the Park Place Hotel, to get finishing getting the bridal party ready in purple sweetheart dresses and tuxes from the Captains Quarters.
After we were all prepped we shot around the hotel, downtown at Sugar Kissed with some custom made cupcakes, the Brew for a round of “Lake Michigan” shots and the Red Dresser some some custom props. Special thank you to my faux bridal party for spending a chilly saturday morning with me, and all the businesses that contributed to this shoot.
Every Spring I launch a senior representative program in which Juniors from schools in my surrounding area have a chance to gain free senior images for themselves, and get their friends and families discounts on their photoshoot needs.
We had Makeup Artist Samantha Jo on set with us to add to the shoot, and between the beautiful senior, makeup and bright sunny day we were able to create some amazing looks!!
Are you going to be a 2014 Senior next year? Send me an email to become a Senior Rep at your school, and receive a free Senior Session, and more! firstname.lastname@example.org
Yesterday, I got a new lens to play around with, so naturally I had to go and test it out. Those who follow my work, will recognize the blonde bombshell as Krista, but this absolutely stunning brunette, Jackie, is a new face to Summerfrost.
Lately my work has been very pageant themed, Sherri Hill Gowns, flawless hair, ect. I Put Krista in one of my own pageant gowns to shoot around in when she arrived, but when It came to jackie I was ready for a change.
Beauty isn’t all about rhinestones and glitter, so Jackie and I threw together a new look. I wanted something a little more “street” something with edge and style. Seeming Jackie and I shared similar pinterests…I mean, interests… I knew her style and my style would match perfectly.
I absolutely love how these turned out, but if the grunge look isn’t for you, I’ll take you back to the glitter and glam of Krista… who also happens to love the grunge look, as seen here, giving love to my Gold Sneakers.
